Every time the rear wheels move up and down, the trailing arm swings on that pivot. Where the arm pivots, small parts called misalignment spacers sit on each side of the joint. They center the joint in its mount and let it swivel smoothly without binding.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThese spacers wear over time from dirt, water and constant movement, which can cause slop or clunking in the rear end.
